MedSpark improves the quality of people’s lives throughout the world by collaborating with medical professionals to bring their product ideas to life. MedSpark, is currently seeking a talented full-stack software development engineer to join our team in a full/part-time capacity to help drive the development of these new medical devices and technologies.

You will be part of a small, yet nimble team that uses software and hardware prototyping methodologies to develop and prove-out designs that make an impact on the world of medicine. Your primary role is driving conceptualization, design, and prototyping of new product ideas, focused on inventive uses of new and existing technologies. Here, you’ll enjoy the freedom to explore new projects, the support to think outside the box, and the advanced tools and technology that foster innovation and achievement. Work hours and days are extremely flexible, based on need and your availability.

Essential Job Functions

You will be working on Java based server applications built using the Springboot framework and either MySQL or MongoDB. You will be developing REST APIs as well as maintaining other ones, working on authentication layers, writing database layers, and testing and documenting these APIs. You also will be building modern single page Web applications using frameworks like ReactJS with Redux or similar JS based frameworks like Vue that integrate and use the APIs. In addition, you will be assisting in other project areas such as data acquisition and data model design. This will include building parsers and data ingestion engines for multiple sources, and working with data models and DDL/DML. Some of these sources could include huge local sources such as archived XML representations of data. Other data sources could include web resources that don’t provide an API so you will need to be creative and have experience writing web scrapers and other out-of-the-box solutions. Mobile experience in Android native is highly desired. This is an extremely dynamic position, and you will likely be requested to perform other duties that require skills you might not have yet. To succeed, candidates must exhibit:

  • Must be highly creative and thrive in an ‘outside-the-box’ environment.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to develop new innovative product ideas.
