Manufacturing Technology Research Intern

MedSpark, is currently seeking a self-motivated Manufacturing Technology Research Intern to join our team in a part-time capacity to help drive the development of these new medical devices and technologies.

You will be working alongside a small, yet nimble team that designs and develops medical products that make an impact on the world of medicine. Your primary role will be researching new and existing manufacturing methods and technologies to bolster MedSpark’s ability to efficiently and effectively integrate them into the new medical products we develop. Here, you’ll enjoy the freedom to explore new projects, the support to think outside the box, and the advanced tools and technology that foster innovation and achievement. Work hours and days are extremely flexible, based on need and your availability.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Research New and Existing Manufacturing Methods and Technologies.
  • Document Research Results of such that they Add Value and are Easily Accessible.
  • Procure Samples of Manufactured Components for Evaluation and Documentation.
  • Locate, Research, and Document Manufacturing Vendors and Their Capabilities.
  • Communicate with Manufacturing Vendors.
  • Collaborate with MedSpark Staff to Identify Manufacturing Methods and Technologies to be Researched.

Required Proficiency, Experience, and Knowledge:

  • Currently Pursuing an Engineering, Design, or Materials Related Field(s) of Study.
  • Outstanding Problem Solving and Organizational skills.
  • Strong Initiative with Ability to Independently Execute and Clearly Document Research Plans.
  • Desire and Capacity to Dive Deep on Manufacturing Technology Research.
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills (English).

Preferred Proficiency, Experience, and Knowledge:

  • Currently Enrolled in one or more of the Following Fields of Study: Industrial Engineering (IE), Manufacturing Engineering (MfgE), Materials Engineering (MATE), General Engineering (GENE), Biomedical Engineering (BMED), or Industrial Design (ID).
  • Hands-On Manufacturing/Prototyping Experience (Conventional and CNC Mill, Lathe, EDM, Grinding, Injection Molding, Metal/Plastic Forming, Composites, Forging, Casting, etc.)
  • Medical Device Development Industry Experience.
